Applied Ecological Research
The goal of applied ecological research at the Nature Center is to determine the best practices for land management using observational and experimental approaches.
Applied ecology utilizes ecological knowledge to directly solve problems and is used to inform conservation, restoration, and management.
Examples of Applied Ecological Research at Cincinnati Nature Center include:
• Management strategies for oak regeneration
• Deer browse impact assessment using the sentinel seedling method
• Vernal pool-breeding amphibian survival and recruitment
• Site preparation methods to improve success and efficiency of prairie installations
